We believe such a system should be reliable and expandable, allowing you to grow your system over time, while managing it through a single web based portal.
Our journey began with an idea for a smart valve system that not only opens and closes a water valve on command, but also thinks for itself and trains water users to use it sparingly. This initial light bulb moment was specifically aimed at hot water use. But the suite of functions has now grown to include many use cases where a valve is in use, such as dispensing controlled amounts of water or simply allowing the valve to be opened or closed from the cloud.
Today, Smart Technology SA is helping homes and businesses to stay one step ahead — turning better habits into savings.
Many a great invention starts with a small frustration, or frustrations — waiting at the gym for a shower to open up while a shower hog is trying to see how long the hot water would last. And then at home finding that the kids had been through the shower and the geyser will only provide a hot shower in a while. And if everyone tests the limits of the geyser capacity there is a shocking surprise on the electricity bill at the end of the month. And then, who wants to be the one always complaining ? Light bulb moment! How about a small computer applying the brakes after a reasonable amount of time, lowering the hammer on the hot water abusers? With the help of an engineer this idea was brought to life and a few prototypes tested on our own homes and that of a rental property. The results were immediately seen on our electricity bills, and although there were a few long faces due to the lovingly applied limits, everyone got accustomed to the new regime very quickly. And money saved in the process. Today, Smart Technology SA has real products that do that, and more.
At Smart Technology SA, our mission is to provide a unified system of useful technology that can be used to manage and control resources such as water and electricity. Unified means plug-and-play but also a single web interface that the user gets to know (and hopefully love) to access remote devices. Useful means devices that are more than gadgets - rather, devices that add value, with quality that translates into reliability.
